Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Global Supply Management (m/f/d) will be responsible for managing the overall supply chain and logistics, inclusive of strategic sourcing, procurement, demand planning, and materials management, across multiple businesses. This role requires strategic planning, materials management, leadership, and exceptional negotiation skills to ensure the company’s sourcing and procurement activities are cost-effective and value-adding. This individual is a key strategic partner to all the businesses within Hillenbrand and must have the right mindset to enable collaboration, achieve breakthrough performance, and ensure that all work is linked to business outcomes, such as growth and return on capital.

Work You’ll Do:

• Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans across multiple businesses to achieve significant cost savings and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies and processes to optimize business performance and meet future business needs.
• Develop and implement processes and strategies for materials management as well as demand planning.
• Monitor market trends and developments to identify potential opportunities and risks.
• Implement sourcing and procurement best practices and ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, as well as process optimization.
• Collaborate with other departments to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
• Develop and manage performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of sourcing strategies and initiatives.
• Lead and mentor the sourcing and procurement teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
• Create a service performance culture that is agile and flexible.
• Direct and lead initiatives to improve supply management, policy guidance, and pricing activities supporting our Hillenbrand Operating Model (HOM).
• Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities related to the procurement function.
• Partner with suppliers on innovations to drive value for the business.
• Partner with business New Product Development and Business Innovation teams to support supplier selection, development, and launch.
• Leverage big data and data science to discover patterns and solve strategic & tactical business problems.
• Guide and support team of Global Supply Category Managers in negotiations and supplier relationship management.
• Coordinate with Global Supply Management leaders to define and implement corporate policies and initiatives.
• Lead and support supplier footprint optimization initiatives.
• Ensure that product costing and sourcing decisions are based upon the total cost of ownership.
• Develop and manage the respective team budgets.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Legal, Logistics, etc.) to drive success.

Basic Qualifications:

Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Proven experience (minimum of 7 years) in a senior leader sourcing role, preferably with a spend coverage of $400M or more. Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and best practices. Excellent negotiation and strategic planning skills. Strong leadership and team management skills. Strong financial acumen and project management. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in relevant sourcing and procurement software. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Manufacturing process knowledge preferred. International experience required. Travel: 40%-60%. This role requires fluency in both English and German.

Preferred Qualifications:

An MBA or related advanced degree is preferred. Experience in implementing SIOP as well as planning, logistics, and distribution is a plus.
