Area of Research:
Laborkräfte
Part-Time Suitability:
The position is suitable for part-time employment.
Job Description:
Infectious diseases continue to pose a threat in many parts of the world as microbes become resistant to drugs and global trade accelerates the spread of pathogens.
At TWINCORE, medical and basic scientists work together in infection research, particularly at the interface between basic research and clinical development. This basic research aims to develop new therapies and diagnostic methods for patients while also finding answers to questions from clinical practice.
The scientists at TWINCORE also support the development of risk assessment strategies for clinical trials of infectious diseases in advance of regulatory approval. This enables the link between research and practice in infection control.
Besides neutralizing pathogens such as viruses, antibodies can trigger an entire arsenal of additional Fc-dependent innate effector functions. New findings point to the importance of these effector functions for antibody-mediated control of viral infections such as HIV, SARS-CoV-2, or RSV. An important goal of our laboratory is to characterize protective antibody responses in humans. Furthermore, we want to develop new, improved antibody-based antiviral therapies.
