The Position

Your department

We are 100+ biostatistician and data scientists with the ambition to promote the development of assays and diagnostic instruments, as well as their use in practice by providing the appropriate quantitative methods for study or instrument design, simulators, and data analyses.

By combining our knowledge with a profound understanding of the question at hand we extract actionable information from data and present these costumer-tailored and comprehensively.

Your team

Our team is highly interested in creating innovative solutions of new and traditional challenges in the algorithmic development. We aim to create new algorithms needed to run our medical instruments in a robust and stable fashion and efficiently optimize the laboratory workflows. To reach our goals we work with simulated data as well as real world data, continuously test our developed algorithms in real life, and bring them with our external partner on the market. In all projects we are in close collaboration with our colleagues from software development, hardware development, business, and assay development, and also external collaborators.

Your objectives/tasks

● Explorative data analysis of real world data
● Development of scheduling, routing, and balancing algorithms by applying state of the art optimization approaches and machine learning methods
● Agile software development in a team of experts as well as presentation of the results to stakeholders and external collaborators
● Data analysis of simulation results, but also real-world data using multivariate and machine learning methods
● Supporting peer-reviewed publications or patent applications demonstrating the scientific utility of your results
● Proactive data science support of cross-functional project teams

Your ideal profile

● University degree (master) in (bio-) statistics, data science, mathematics, computational science, (bio)-informatics or a comparable degree, Ph.D. is a plus.
● Expertise in developing algorithms, in particular scheduling, routing, or balancing algorithms
● Experience in performing and evaluating simulation experiments based on developed algorithms
● Excellent knowledge of python or a comparable programming language
● Enthusiasm to expand your knowledge continuously and apply new quantitative methodology
● Excellent communication and analytical skills
● Joy in working in interdisciplinary teams within several projects simultaneously

● English: fluent in speaking and writing

This position is limited to 2 years.
