We build software that helps companies along the food system get to Net Zero.

Approximately 31% of global GHG emissions originate from food-related activities. Climate performance has become a key business indicator, with enterprises mandated to disclose their climate impact. This creates pressure from investors, regulators, and consumers to reduce CO2e emissions. Over the next decade, companies aim to meet ambitious reduction targets, and enterprise software can play a crucial role.

We raised over €10m in funding within the first two years, launched our enterprise product, onboarded major F&B clients in Europe, and assembled a top early-stage tech team. Would you like to join us?

What you will work on

Your mission

Design and develop Root’s product offerings, owning solutions from research to delivery, including testing and implementation.

In the next 12 months, you can expect:

• As a generalist product designer, you will manage the entire process from user research to prototypes and low-code solutions, collaborating with engineers to realize these designs.

• Help shape the design function at Root; as the second designer, you will play a key role in its development.

• Create wireframes, interfaces, and scalable user experiences based on your ideas.

• Conduct user research both on-site and remotely to better understand our users and validate solutions.

Potential evolution of the role:

• Take ownership of end-to-end design for multiple Root products in development.

• Lead the expansion of Root’s product into new verticals and geographies, contribute to product strategy, and service design, supporting your growth trajectory.

What you bring along

About you:

• Mid/Senior Product Designer: Experience level is flexible.

• Language requirements: Fluent in English and German.

• At least 2 years of experience in end-to-end product design.

• A portfolio showcasing your work in research, design, and delivery of user-centric products.

• Experience conducting User Research both on-site and remotely to understand and empathize with users.

• Strong product curiosity and enthusiasm for solving customer needs with pragmatic solutions.

• Proficiency in designing and testing prototypes using tools like Figma and low/no-code tools such as Retool.

• Experience working with design systems and contributing to their development.

• Interest in exploring the sustainable food sector and empathizing with those working within it.
