Bachelor-/ Master Thesis: »Cloud Smart Data Platform for Industrial IoT in Production«

The fourth industrial revolution is increasing the flexibility of industrial production and optimizing it by linking traditional production with new technologies such as IoT sensors, edge, and cloud systems. This creates completely new possibilities for process data acquisition and evaluation. With many smart sensors connected to production, each utilizing various protocols, a centralized universal cloud data acquisition system is required. The aim is to develop a cloud-based smart data acquisition system that is not only capable of handling multiple protocols but also integrates services such as data processing pipelines, time synchronization servers, and data storage servers.

What you will do

1. Develop a cloud-based smart data acquisition system for wireless smart sensors
2. Integrate data servers to handle various protocols such as MQTT, UDP, and LwM2M
3. Implement data pipelines to process sensor data
4. Integrate a database to store sensor and process data
5. Implement APIs to integrate with the Asset Administration shell
6. Create a dashboard to visualize the sensor platform and data
7. Validate the system with smart sensors

What you bring to the table

1. You are studying electronics, computer science, information technology, or a comparable subject
2. You have initial experience with cloud application development (Python, C++)
3. Basic knowledge of IoT protocols and time synchronization is advantageous
4. A high degree of initiative and team spirit
5. Good language skills in German and/or English
