Doctoral Research Scholarship in Metabolic Engineering and Fermentation of Anaerobic Microorganisms
Research Area: Metabolic engineering, Gas-fermenting microorganisms, Fermentation, Biocatalysis
- Successful completion of a Master’s thesis in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field
- Experience in classical and/or modern cloning techniques is advantageous
- Ideally, knowledge of microbiology and biochemistry of aerobic/anaerobic organisms
- Proficiency in fermentation of microorganisms is beneficial
- Strong knowledge of chemistry and/or biochemistry
- Expertise in chemical analytics (e.g., gas and liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry)
- Demonstrated publication activity
- Proficiency in German and English
Job Description:
- Cultivation of microorganisms (aerobic/anaerobic)
- Metabolic engineering of syngas-fermenting microorganisms
- Fermentation in a gas-fermentation facility at a 3.7L scale
- Characterization of product strains at transcript, protein, and product levels
- Analytical work using GC-MS and LC-MS/MS
- Contribution to publications, patents, and presentations
