The project:

P6 senior planner to work across a number of large-scale construction projects.

Your responsibilities:

  • Advocate for Mace’s value of safety first, and be accountable for leading and maintaining exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability, and project compliance standards.

  • Possess expertise in local health and safety rules and regulations relevant to the project portfolio.

  • Champion a diverse and inclusive working environment, and understand the importance of the wellbeing of the people you manage.

  • Manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives.

  • Support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs, and the overall contribution to the broader company goals.

  • Support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored.

  • Lead the application of specific planning/scheduling methods, techniques, and tools.

  • Maintain a good working knowledge of planning/scheduling, EVM, project controls methodologies.

  • Advise on complex requirements and communicate analysis and corrective measures effectively.

  • Manage planning/scheduling delivery of medium/high complexity projects/programmes.

  • Play a key role in multidisciplinary teams and take a lead role in creating plans or analysing trends using numerical and statistical techniques.

  • Lead and manage a team of professionals delivering planning/schedule management services and be responsible for staff development.

  • Maintain excellent written communication skills, clear & concise.

  • Stay up to date with key industry/professional trends as a planning/schedule management specialist.

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of schedule management tools & software.

  • Provide effective & timely advice to clients.

  • Understand data management.

  • Clearly understand role & future career paths available from that position.

  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail & validate & check schedule management inputs, recording & reports produced, providing basic commentary & analysis.

  • Manage assistants and planning managers where required by the scale of the project.

  • Persuade and influence colleagues.

  • Influence clients to accept proposals and recommendations.

  • Satisfy customer requirements.

  • Tackle problems that don’t have an obvious solution.

  • Delegate tasks to others.

  • Sell the business and win work.

  • Create and deliver persuasive presentations to large audiences.

  • Spot and develop talented individuals.

You’ll need to have:

  • Exposure to working as a Primavera P6 project planner on large scale civil engineering/infrastructure projects ideally for a tier 1 contractor or a client-side consultancy.

  • A construction-related degree (civil/structural engineering, or construction/project management or equivalent).

  • Be digitally savvy, able to build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated teams.

  • Experience of working on large projects/programmes.

  • A construction or project management background and a desire to grow your career.

  • Experience in managing a large portfolio of projects.

  • Ability to mentor and upskill inexperienced planners.

  • Experience in implementing planning principles within the project management community.

  • Ability to work with a large range of stakeholders.

  • Experience in planning complicated infrastructure projects and summarising these into portfolio level schedules.

  • Experience in construction – living accommodation, offices, workshops, sports facilities, associated infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with other planning software – Microsoft Project, Asta Power Project.

  • Experience as an advanced P6 user (P6 pro).

  • Familiarity with P6 EPPM (Web) – for config management.

  • Experience in managing large data sets into simple reporting formats, through coding and layout manipulation.

  • Knowledge of baseline control and configuration.

  • Experience with schedule import and export.

  • Knowledge of schedule risk analysis (QSRA).

  • Experience with P6 configuration management – user access, OBS creation and management, user profiles, OBS assignation.

  • Ability to set up and use resources.

  • Experience using P6 for EVM.

You’ll also have:

  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.

  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.

  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.

  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
