The Molecular Biology Service (MBS) at ISTA is active in the areas of protein and viral vector production, purification, and characterization. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in viral vector production and applications (especially AAVs and Lentivirus) to further develop our services. If you are eager to establish Viral Vector applications in a dynamic research environment, we would like to welcome you as part of the MBS team. Together we aim to make a valuable contribution to science on campus and beyond.
Your Responsibilities
- Work closely with researchers to plan experiments, communicate results, and provide consulting in the field of viral vectors.
- Produce DNA constructs for various viral gene delivery systems (e.g. AAVs, Lentivirus).
- Produce, purify, titrate, and characterize standard & custom virus particles up to safety level 2.
- Support cell culture related technologies, for example production of stable cell lines.
- Carefully document working procedures and results according to QC standards.
- Support emerging technologies and optimize established systems.
- Conceptualize and implement rules/guidelines/SOPs.
Your Profile
- Advanced degree (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) in Virology, Neuroscience, Biology or a similar field.
- High level of understanding and proven working experience in virus production workflows, including production, purification, titration, and quality control, especially for AAVs and Lentivirus.
- Experience with production of other types of viruses like Rabies, VSV, or Picornavirus is a plus.
- Strong practical experience with applications of viral vectors, cell culture, and in vivo methods (e.g., FACS, transfection, transduction, assay development).
- Service and detail-oriented working style with high flexibility and can-do attitude.
- High conceptual and organizational skills.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken), knowledge of German beneficial.
- Excellent team player who can also work independently.
