The Opportunity
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate State Sales Manager to lead, grow and develop a passionate team of Business Development Managers (BDM) across Brisbane.
Reporting to the National Sales Manager (NSM), this role would be suitable for someone with a strong background in hardware and building supply sales who has managed a team of up to 10+ sales professionals and is keen for a new challenge.
This role provides a valuable part in connecting company vision with the local team, whilst also being surrounded by a supportive and collaborative leadership team.
We are looking for an experienced and innovative individual who is passionate about motivating, supporting and getting the best out of their team!
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Support and manage local BDM’s activities and performance.
- Analyse BDM’s daily activities and work with each to ensure sales objectives are achieved.
- Mentor and coach team as required to enable them to achieve their best performance.
- Execution of promotional & samples, and showroom programs across the team, ensuring samples are provided to accounts that will present the best return.
- Work with NSM to co-ordinate, manage and implement territory changes when required.
- Work with HR & HOF Management to onboard new BDMs to the team, ensuring that they are set up for success.
- Coordinate state-based marketing events in collaboration with BDM’s, NSM & Marketing.
- Foster strong relationships with parent company, Blum, ensuring that team works closely with their counterparts.
- Regular reviewing and management of customer business reviews.
- Troubleshoot areas of concern for the region across product, customer and BDM performance and develop solutions to mitigate these issues.
- Assess training needs and coordinate regular product/sales training for the team.
- Regularly spend time on the road with BDMs offering suggestions and support to assist them in their roles.
- Increase accountability and proactively manage underperformance when required within the team.
- Drive prospecting across the team, seeking out additional market share opportunities and share of wallet growth with existing accounts.
- Delivering strong sales and profit mix across the state.
- Delivering to state budgets and KPI’s as set in conjunction with the NSM.
What you\’ll need to succeed:
Experience:
- Previous experience managing a team of 10+ sales professionals, including territory management.
- Solid leadership abilities with a track record of developing, building and mentoring a team.
- Excels in time management supported by strong analytical skills.
- Proven sales track record with experience in servicing key accounts.
- Preparation of and presenting to major accounts.
- Intermediate skills across MS Office suite.
- Experience using CRMs, Salesforce & SAP advantageous.
- Ability to travel for work, both locally and nationally when required.
- Experience leading within a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.
