Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and outcomes. This includes fostering a productive, collaborative work environment, providing guidance and support, and ensuring staff development.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of departmental policies and strategies. This involves making recommendations on policy matters and ensuring the effective execution of plans aligned with organisational goals.
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of projects and programs within the directorate. This includes managing resources, budgets, timelines, and ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including other government agencies, external organisations, and the community. This role involves managing communication and negotiating with stakeholders to advance the objectives of the department.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and APS policies. This includes providing reports on team performance, financial matters, and program outcomes, and ensuring that operations are in line with government and organisational standards.

- Shown experience as an assistant director within the Australian Public Service.
- The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team, foster a positive work culture, and manage performance effectively. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for supporting staff development and managing challenging situations.
- The capability to think strategically, make sound decisions based on data and analysis, and solve complex problems. This involves understanding broader organisational goals and ensuring that team efforts align with those objectives.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a variety of stakeholders. This includes presenting complex information in clear, concise terms and negotiating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in managing projects and programs from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget. This includes risk management and the ability to adapt to changes as required.
