About the Role

As a Senior Speech Pathologist, you will focus on delivering high-quality, person-centred care designed to support clients to achieve their goals. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Dietitians. Your caseload will align, wherever possible, with your clinical preferences, expertise and goals. We enable you time to provide clinical leadership and mentorship to other team members, facilitating the delivery of safe, evidenced based, high-quality, client-centred care.

Key responsibilities

  1. Clinical Leadership & Mentoring: provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced speech pathologists and allied health staff and promote best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  2. Client Assessment & Intervention: conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication, and swallowing assessments, and develop tailored treatment plans.
  3. Multi-disciplinary Collaboration: work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, and other health professionals to deliver holistic care.
  4. Quality Improvement: assist in the development and review of clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
  5. Documentation & Reporting: maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  6. Client & Family Education: provide education and training to clients, families, caregivers and educational staff to implement tailored programs and strategies to support communication, swallowing, and overall well-being.
  7. Professional Development: participate in professional development activities, workshops, and conferences. Promote a culture of continuous learning within the team.

Key selection criteria

Our ideal candidate will need to hold/demonstrate:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology
  2. Membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA)
  3. Minimum 3 years’ demonstrated experience in the provision of speech pathology services across a range of diagnoses which may include global developmental delay, ASD, speech and language delay, disorder and swallowing difficulties
  4. Experience with assessment, trial and selection of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems and/or assistive technology.
  5. Ability to provide support to less experienced Speech Pathologists
  6. Experience in providing paediatric as well as adult therapeutic care (desirable)
  7. National Police Check
  8. NDIS Worker Screening Check and SA Working with Children Check
  9. Excellent written communication, time management, and organisational skills
  10. A genuine passion for making a positive difference in clients’ lives
  11. An ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  12. A commitment to professional development and continuous improvement
  13. A current Australian driver’s license, appropriate insurance, and a reliable vehicle

  1. Competitive and attractive above-award remuneration based on experience $100,000 – $120,000 p.a. + superannuation + PD allowance + (retention bonus payable at 12 months)
