Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced, dedicated, and highly organised Bar & Hospitality Manager to oversee the daily operations of our bar. You will lead a team of bartenders and staff, ensuring a high-quality customer experience while maintaining a profitable, efficient, and smooth-running bar environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a passion for hospitality, and a thorough understanding of bar operations and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and motivate bar staff to ensure exceptional customer service and a positive work environment.
  • Customer Service: Maintain high standards of service to ensure guests have an outstanding experience. Address customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Inventory & Ordering: Manage inventory, track product usage, and order supplies. Ensure stock levels meet demand while minimizing waste and cost.
  • Financial Management: Monitor daily sales, manage cash handling, and ensure proper financial reporting. Implement strategies to drive revenue and manage costs effectively.
  • Bar Operations: Oversee the preparation of drinks, maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, and ensure all health and safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Menu Development: Collaborate with the team to create and update the drink menu, including special cocktails, promotions, and seasonal offerings.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the bar complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including liquor licensing and health/safety laws.
  • Marketing & Events: Work with the office team to promote the bar through our weekly E-Bulletin and social media.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Bar Manager, Bartender, or in a similar role within the hospitality industry. Previous member-based club experience favourable.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to make coffee, cocktails & bar drinks.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and alcohol-related regulations.
  • Experience with budgeting, inventory management, and financial reporting.

Must have Skills:

  • Responsible Person Badge (South Australia)
  • RSA Certification.
  • Experience in staff rostering & staff supervision.
  • Event planning or promotional activities.
  • Familiarity with Swiftpos point-of-sale (POS) systems and bar management software.
  • Flexibility for a 4-day working week if suited to right candidate.
  • Above Award Rates.

The role requires a manager to be hands-on operationally. Below is a list of tasks required to fulfill the role:

  • Backend Swiftpos skills for entering stock as it arrives, load new products, clean POS screen of lines not active.
  • Responsible for all Bar Staff Rostering & have Bar staff report as direct line.
  • Stock ordering – Bar / soft drinks/chips/nuts – in line with budget set by GM.
  • Stocktakes monthly (commitment to reducing current stock holding and lines).
  • Weekly Cleaning of Bar / rotation of stock/ Clean Fridges.
  • Basic Barista Coffee making skills.
  • Basic Food Handling Certificate (South Australia).
  • Proficient in Beer line cleaning / able to be trained.
  • Keg tapping – change out kegs when required.
  • Point of Contact for Function enquiries – emailing and Microsoft Office proficient.
  • Liaise with Caterers – weekly meetings to run through events / stock management.
  • Promotion of events with Caterer – work together to host events at the Squadron.
  • Stock control of our Wedding furniture & equipment.
  • Engage with sponsors for wine promotions / house specials.
  • Have bar open for specific events/racing days – liaise with Caterers for racing days and times.
