Your Tasks

At Beiersdorf, we are committed to enabling digital transformation across our organization. Our Decision & Artificial Intelligence team is a trusted partner to all business functions, implementing data-driven solutions to gain advanced consumer insights and both automate and optimize business processes. We are looking for a passionate “Lead Data Scientist” to drive our AI initiatives forward.

Our cross-functional team consists of experts in the fields of data engineering, data science, machine learning engineering and cloud engineering. As a team we own Beiersdorf’s technology platforms for AI, Data Science and Decision Intelligence. The software solutions we implement range from promotion campaign optimization over lab digitalization to decision automation in supply chain. We are part of Beiersdorf’s AI & Automation organization.

Your Responsibilities:

• You are a driver behind the implementation of impactful Data Science and AI products.
• Ideate the solutions together with our business partners and engineers to move from a business case to an AI product vision.
• Research, design and implement mathematical models – potentially beyond the usage of existing Python packages.
• Contribute as a member of AI product teams to the implementation and roll-out of solutions that impact the way how people at Beiersdorf take decisions.
• Contribute together with other thought leaders from our AI & Automation organization to the further development of our AI strategy with a current focus on Generative AI and Decision Intelligence.
• Drive Data Science and AI capability building both in our team and across the Beiersdorf organization including Citizen Data Scientists.

Your Profile:

• Master’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a quantitative field. PhD is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in building Data Science or AI solutions, with a proven track record of success.
• Strong maths, statistics and machine learning proficiency.
• Expertise in at least two of the following fields: deep learning, causal graphical models, Bayesian statistics or mathematical optimization.
• Knowledge of MLOps is a plus.
• Relevant work experience with Python or R.
• Demonstrated strong visualization and data storytelling skills with Plotly, Dash, Power BI or similar.
• Fluent in written and spoken English. German is a plus.
• Ability to work in a self-organizing environment and eagerness to continuously learn.
