Contracts Manager (Mechanical) – Data Centres

Job Purpose

As part of an exciting company expansion project, Designer Group are seeking a Contracts Manager to join our Operations team in our data centre business.

As Contracts Manager, you will provide leadership to project operations across various contracts that run concurrently. You will be responsible for ensuring the projects are delivered on time, on budget, to the highest quality standards and exceeding our client\’s expectations. Your role will involve the management of senior project personnel (Site Managers, Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, and other departmental leads) in the delivery of the contracts under your control. You will provide proactive management accountability in line with the values of Designer Group.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Involvement in Estimation preparations, packs, and support.
  2. Design development and value engineering, pre and post contract commencement.
  3. Ensure the highest levels of commercial management are adhered to and commercial targets are achieved while working in conjunction with the Project QS/Commercial team.
  4. Manage all aspects of procurement, including subcontractors and plant/equipment.
  5. Oversee the contracting process with chosen sub-contractors/specialists and ensure works are carried out correctly and as per contract and relevant specifications.
  6. Closely monitor the usage of materials and resources on projects.
  7. Ensure weekly progress reports are issued, including RFIs, procurement schedules, technical submittals, programme updates, and identification of critical issues specific to projects which you are involved in.
  8. Hold regular meetings with both the design team and sub-contractors.
  9. Oversee and execute the effective control and use of both labour and materials on projects.
  10. Be responsible for implementing company Health and Safety Procedures and reporting to the Company’s Head of EHS.
  11. Actively engage in Business Development to obtain future opportunities for the company.
  12. Maintain and build upon good working relationships with internal & external stakeholders of the business.

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Ideally 10+ years’ experience with an M&E background.
  2. Third Level Degree desirable, not essential.

  2. Collaborative stakeholder management.
  3. Good interpersonal & written communication skills.
  4. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
