Scientific Director and CEO
The Austrian Academy of Sciences (OeAW) is seeking an outstanding scientist and visionary leader to serve as the Scientific Director and CEO of the Research Center for Molecular Medicine (CeMM).
CeMM GmbH, a leading research center, aims to advance technologies to explore human biology and combat disease. The ideal candidate will shape the future of CeMM, working with 9 Principal Investigators and a network of 11 Adjunct Principal Investigators, totaling approximately 300 members.
Responsibilities:
- Leading the direction of CeMM, driving scientific innovation to improve healthcare
- Overseeing an internationally competitive salary, generous annual research budget, and access to cutting-edge research infrastructure
- Fostering collaboration with clinicians and leveraging Vienna\’s vibrant scientific community
- Developing and implementing strategies to nurture precise, personalized, predictive, and preventive medicine
Requirements:
- Medical Degree or PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related field
- Experience as PI of a lab with a track record of cutting-edge research in translational biomedical fields
- Excellent publication record or equivalent output
- Leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of recruiting outstanding international talents
Preferred Qualifications:
- A strong background in medical research and the healthcare sector
- Proven experience in the biotech industry, particularly in drug discovery, along with expertise in research commercialization, technology transfer, and founding spin-off companies
