PhD position – Enzyme-based sensor for biomarker level detection

A prototype enzyme-based biosensor will be developed with potentiostatic readouts complemented by NFC integration to enable rapid and reliable point-of-need applications. Enzymes with high substrate specificity will be selected and immobilized on the electrode surface to facilitate the detection of target compounds via redox reactions. The project will focus on optimizing enzyme stability, selectivity, and signal strength through advanced immobilization strategies and enzyme engineering approaches. A critical challenge—the selectivity for the target compound—will be tackled by implementing a multi-enzyme, multi-electrode setup for comparative analysis. This research aims to advance the development of stable, highly selective biosensors suitable for real-world applications.

Your Tasks

  1. Conduct independent research in the field of enzyme technology, including enzyme expression and purification, assay development and analytics, kinetic characterization, enzyme engineering, and enzyme immobilization.
  2. Collaborate closely with our industry partner on joint development activities.
  3. Document and present your results through various formats, such as scientific reports, publications, oral presentations, and posters.
  4. Ensure the professional handling, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment.
  5. Contribute to acib management tasks and assist in disseminating research findings to the general public.
