Job Description
Position Overview: This is a standard controls engineer position. The selected candidate will be the lead for the site. 60% of the work will involve special projects for the facility, while 40% will focus on troubleshooting, firefighting issues, and day-to-day repair tasks. An outsourced group currently handles some of the daily operations, and the goal is to reduce reliance on them.
The primary objective for this position is to build a team underneath this individual in the future. Key initiatives include standardizing the use of Allen Bradley controls systems across the plant. Currently, both Siemens and Allen Bradley systems are in use, and there is a plan to transition legacy systems to Allen Bradley where feasible.
Additionally, the facility is working towards Industry 4.0, aiming for all systems to communicate with each other. This will facilitate data collection to improve business decisions and minimize machine downtime through effective code and system development.
This facility spans 750k sq. ft. and produces haircare products such as shampoos, gels, and conditioners. It also houses two turbines that generate 25-30% of the energy used on-site. Efforts are underway to capture more of this energy production to prevent loss. There is a special project budgeted for next year to explore ways to enhance energy capture and increase turbine capacity.
