Colloids and interfaces consist of very small or thin structures with linear dimensions between nanometers and micrometers. On the one hand, the possible structures represent a „world of hidden dimensions“. On the other hand, the dynamics and structures of these small entities determine the behavior of much larger systems such as organisms.

The group of Dr. Manuel Häußler focuses on establishing whole new value chains from renewable feedstocks to sustainable materials specifically designed for a circular economy.

Chemical-technical Assistant (m/f/d)

Your tasks and qualifications

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Chemical-technical Assistant (CTA) to join our innovative project focused on the upcycling of polyethylene (PE) plastic waste into versatile porous filter materials. These materials will be developed for applications such as lithium extraction from deep water and 3D printing within a newly funded BMBF project. This position is offered in collaboration with industry partners, providing an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of academia and industry. The appointment is for three years, with the possibility of extension.

Your Tasks:

  • Conduct analytical routine work on material samples such as mechanical testing or investigation of thermal properties via DSC.
  • Manufacture materials according to specified protocols.
  • Create custom laboratory devices using 3D printing and maintain the 3D printers.
  • Train new employees on the use of new devices

Your qualifications:

  • Completed training as a Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA) or a bachelor\’s degree in Chemistry or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with 3D printing is desirable.
  • Ability for both independent and team work
  • German level min. B2, English level min. B1
