The Chair of Public Finance, Prof. Christoph Vanberg Ph. D., Alfred Weber Institute of Economics, Heidelberg University, invites applications for the position of a Ph.D. student and research / teaching assistant (13 TV-L, 75%) to be filled for an initial period of 3 years, with an option to extend. (Start from February 1, 2025 or at the earliest possible convenience).
Your tasks: In your first year, you will participate in Ph.D. courses offered in cooperation with the University of Mannheim. Starting in year two, you will work on collaborative as well as independent research projects with the aim of publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals. The research focus of the chair is on Political, Behavioral, and Experimental Economics. The position involves a teaching requirement of three hours per week during term time, typically fulfilled by teaching exercise sessions for undergraduate courses.
Your Qualifications : You have completed or are about to complete your Master\’s degree in economics or a related field with above-average results and would like to work on questions of political and/or behavioral economics using theoretical and experimental methods. Previous knowledge of microeconomics and game theory as well as English language proficiency are required. Experience in econometrics and common statistical software are also an advantage.
