Managing Director of the University Computer Center (m/f/d)

Company Description

As of 01.05.2025, Chemnitz University of Technology is seeking to fill the position of a full-time Managing Director of the University Computer Center (m/f/d) (remuneration group 15 TV-L) to be filled for an indefinite period. In principle, the position is also suitable for part-time employment (but at least 80%). Applications will be reviewed to determine whether part-time requests can be accommodated within the scope of official possibilities.

The Managing Director has the following tasks in particular:

  • Regulation of the internal organization, deployment of existing personnel and the available material resources and facilities
  • Decisions on admission to use in accordance with the user regulations and the distribution of resources among users as well as exclusion from use
  • Determining and implementing measures for the operation and support of central resources
  • Preparation of annual cost accounting (overview of the use of resources)
  • Notifications of financial requirements for subsequent years
  • Preparation of the URZ’s economic and investment plan on the basis of the university’s overall IT planning in agreement with the Director
  • Deputizing for the Director of the University Computer Centre in his or her absence

Recruitment Requirements

  • Completed university degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, business informatics, administrative informatics, administrative business administration or a comparable qualification with appropriate skills and relevant professional experience
  • Several years of management experience in the IT sector, ideally in a university environment
  • Sound knowledge of IT infrastructure, IT security and data protection as well as experience in administrative IT
  • Experience in the implementation of digitalization projects and digital transformation as well as in applying for and processing third-party funding
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to develop and implement innovative solutions
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills
