Department purpose

Our EU DDIT team is comprised of lawyers across our office network, covering all of the EU and world\’s principal markets. We offer to our clients expertise in the key regions, from a full-service coverage of the key EU jurisdictions, including Luxembourg, France, Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium, to our U.K., Middle East, Asia Pacific and U.S. practices.
Our lawyers offer clients profound regulatory experience and they lead thinking on legal and regulatory developments, helping clients in implementing changes as they occur. The team covers a wide range of topics, from regulatory advice on AI, data protection, cybersecurity, digital transformation, IP transactional advice (including in M&A deals) to law enforcement and litigation (including privacy investigations and class actions).
Role purpose
We are looking for an experienced EU Knowledge Lawyer to join and lead our EU DDIT KH team.
This is an exciting opportunity to:

  • Develop and maintain our know-how resources and tools for DDIT across EU;

  • Provide expert guidance and analysis on the EU regulatory framework and market developments affecting our clients and practice;

  • Support our lawyers and clients with training, updates, and queries on EU Data & Tech-related matters;

  • Contribute to our thought leadership and business development initiatives.

Role and responsibilities

  • Monitoring and analysing the latest developments and trends in EU regulations in relation to data & tech, affecting various clients across all industries and assessing their impact on our clients and practice;

  • Preparing and updating EU regulations horizon scanning reports and tools;

  • Producing high-quality and engaging client materials, such as brochures, alerts, newsletters and podcasts, on the EU regulatory topics in collaboration with our local lawyers, know-how, legal tech and business development & marketing teams;

  • Maintaining and enhancing our internal EU know-how database;

  • Coordinating and conducting comparative surveys and cross-border market studies on various DDIT-related regulatory matters;

  • Identifying and delivering client seminars and training sessions (both internal and external) on the EU regulatory matters impacting our clients;

  • Exploring and implementing IT solutions and new technologies to improve the capture, sharing and communication of our know-how;

  • Acting as the main contact and coordinator for the EU know-how content related to Data & Tech across the firm;

  • Liaising and collaborating with the European know-how community, legal tech, business development, marketing and other support teams to ensure alignment and consistency of our messages and services.

Key requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ideally a qualification as a lawyer with at least 7 years of experience (no upper limit) or similar in-house experience;

  • Excellent technical skills, with a strong interest in the commercial and legal issues relating to DDIT;

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal, research and analytical skills and the ability to work effectively with different stakeholders and teams;

  • Training experience;

  • Experience in working in a cross-border and multicultural environment;

  • Experience in liaising with industry associations and EU regulators;

  • Excellent knowledge of the European regulatory framework around DDIT, such as the EU AI act, Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA), GDPR, the Digital Services Act (DSA), etc.;

  • Energy, enthusiasm and a pro-active approach to your work;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken. Additional European languages (e.g. French and German) are a plus;

  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential.
