Job Description: Automotive Staff Field Applications Engineer focusing on Automotive Cabin Experience

Reports To: FAE Technical Leader Automotive EMEA as part of EMEA Sales Team

Role Definition

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and dynamic Automotive Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support OEM accounts in Germany on Automotive Cabin Experience. As a Field Applications Engineer, you are the bridge between product development groups and top automotive customers in EMEA. In your role, you will have a strong focus on our OEM engagements with the primary goal of winning new platform business through proactive technical support that will solve customer challenges.

This requires a profound knowledge of the customer development process: you need to be familiar with all the aspects of the product lifecycle, from development to mass production.

In this role, you would be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology proposal and evaluation stage (e.g. early engagement) with the engineering teams working in conjunction with the account teams as the key technical advisor and system advocate for a wide range of commercial and passenger vehicle applications.

The Automotive FAE must be able to identify customer platform requirements (hardware and software) and work closely internally with Analog Devices Business Units and Systems Engineering. You will take ownership for driving the resolution of all technical issues to ensure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

As Automotive FAE, you must be able to build trust and establish and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 customers as well as ADI internal Automotive Business Units. You will need to invest in your product and system level knowledge on an ongoing basis through various training and development opportunities.

Your tasks

  • Develop and maintain expert knowledge level for a wide range of vehicle systems and sub-system applications across multiple OEMs.
  • Listen, understand and convey customers\‘ early requirements with a strong focus on both HW and SW identifying customer\’s needs and translating them into specifications and/or design ideas for our automotive Bus.
  • Prepare Proof of Concept (PoC) demos demonstrating to the customer the value added by ADI’s solutions.
  • Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFQs.
  • Help the customer to solve complex problems integrating Analog Devices solutions into customer systems.
  • Perform customer’s schematic and layout review in collaboration with the Business Units.
  • Generate high-quality documentation such as technical presentations, application notes, and meeting notes.
  • Maintain professional business relationships with experts at several OEM customers in close cooperation with Global and Key Account Managers.
  • Perform on-site visits to provide customer service and sales support.

Qualifications and Skills required

  • BSc/BEng/MSc in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Work experience >10 years in engineering with semiconductor and/or automotive industries.
  • Excellent understanding of automotive systems and vehicle architecture (domain and zonal) with a focus on automotive connectivity, infotainment, and ADAS.
  • A solid understanding of automotive power and analog semiconductor applications.
  • Knowledge in DSP and Automotive Audio is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills and experience working with global teams.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Curious nature and willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Available for travel 50%.
  • Driver license required.
  • Languages: English (min. C1), German (min B1).
