British American Tobacco Germany has an exciting opportunity for a HR Business Partner in Operations in Bayreuth, Germany.

The Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) for Operations in Bayreuth acts as a strategic advisor and trusted partner to operational leaders, aligning HR strategies with business objectives to drive organizational performance. Key responsibilities include workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and implementing initiatives that enhance employee engagement and operational efficiency. We’re looking for an eager and mobile individual to have a career with BAT with continuous personal development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Professional and disciplinary management of all employees in the HR department, regular performance reviews, professional and personal development, and talent development, incl. international HR work (assignments).
  2. Accountable for all HR activities along the employee lifecycle, considering applicable laws, BAT best practices and a working environment characterized by trusting cooperation with the various stakeholders.
  3. Member of the local management team and close cooperation with the plant management, division managers and executives, works council, and the representative body for severely disabled employees.
  4. Responsible for executing the internal talent management processes (potential assessment, succession planning and performance appraisal) and implementing HR processes to retain employees, develop and maintain a healthy talent pipeline to build a high-performance culture.
  5. Advising executives and management on HR-related and HR law issues in collaboration with external lawyers, incl. disciplinary measures.
  6. Managing the annual salary development and bonus process for non-tariff employees.
  7. Determining and analysing personnel costs using “Business Planning and Consolidation” (system: SAP) in collaboration with management and regional stakeholders.
  8. Preparation and execution of personnel-related statistics, employee surveys, various projects, and respective action planning.
  9. Leading the working group “Organization” within the framework of IWS (“Integrated Work System”) to improve the organizational structure and culture at the site.

What are we looking for?

  1. University degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration with HR as focus area or similar.
  2. German Language proficiency (at least C1-level or native).
  3. Minimum 4 years of HR experience, preferably including time in an industrial setting or FMCG understanding the specific needs of workers.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of German employment laws (Betriebsverfassungsgesetz (Works Constitution Act), KĂĽndigungsschutzgesetz (Dismissal Protection Act), and occupational health and safety standards).
  5. Familiarity with working alongside or managing Betriebsrat (works council).
  6. Demonstrated ability to handle employee grievances, mediate disputes, and foster a positive workplace culture in a factory environment.
  7. Proven experience in recruiting and managing both local and international labor.
  8. Track record of implementing HR policies, performance management systems, and training programs tailored to industrial workforces.
  9. People leadership experience.
  10. Proficiency in using HR software (e.g. SAP HR) in a data-driven approach managing workforce metrics and reporting.
