Senior Backend Engineer (Java) - Recommendations and Ranking (all genders)

We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to help us enhance our recommendation and ranking systems for customer-facing products. You’ll work on large-scale, high-throughput solutions using AWS and Kubernetes, contributing to scalable and efficient systems that improve the experience of millions of users. If you enjoy solving complex problems and building impactful software, we’d be excited to have you on our team.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

1. Design, develop, and scale backend infrastructure to support our 51-million-strong customer base and future growth needs.
2. Build and optimise large-scale, high-throughput solutions for ranking and recommendations, ensuring exceptional reliability, performance, and low latency on AWS and Kubernetes.
3. Collaborate with leaders, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver innovative, production-ready solutions aligned with best practices in software development.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

1. You have 5+ years of experience with proficiency in Java (optionally Scala), AWS, and Kubernetes, along with hands-on experience in Python and NoSQL databases.
2. Proven ability to design, develop, and maintain backend systems in large-scale production environments, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
3. Excellent communication skills with a record of leading organization-wide collaborations effectively.
4. Strong ability to understand the broader context of customer problems, driving impactful and value-focused solutions.
