The clerk receives instructions from the supervisor on non-recurring assignments and changes in procedures. Most assignments are performed independently according to established procedures and previous experience. The supervisor is consulted when problems arise for which there are no precedents. The work is reviewed for accuracy by spot-checking or selective sampling, and may be reviewed occasionally for compliance with standards and regulations. This position functionally serves as a (Deployment Processing Center) Lodging Clerk responsible for providing cleaning services and limited administrative services to the Deployment Processing Center. The DPC operates in a 24 / 7, multiple and / or rotating shift environment. Performs various tasks in support of deployed soldiers and government employees. Mans a reception desk, issues rooms and overflow billeting areas to Government Personnel and Soldiers that will stay at the DPC. Conducts verbal In Briefs for all personnel lodging at the DPC. Maintains a rolling count of personnel staying at the DPC, completes a shift report, updates billeting occupancy listing, supply inventories and electronic files and updates PHA Billeting Board as required. Reports incidents, emergencies, safety violations and shortages / overages of supplies and damaged or missing equipment to management or emergency services. Calls in emergency service orders on weekends, holidays and after hours. Maintains cleanliness of all areas and buildings assigned to or within the area of DPC’s responsibility.

Functions include but are not limited to :

Cleaning : Sweeping (both with broom and machine floor sweeper), mopping, vacuuming, dusting, wiping, bundling / folding of linens, emptying trash, washing of towels, cleaning windows, cleaning appliances, cleaning equipment, raking leaves, replacing / cleaning mattress covers cleaning of all PHA and all areas located inside and outside, maintaining the upkeep of DPC facilities and equipment such as the floor sweeper. Operates automated sweepers, pallet jacks.

Safety / Security : Shoveling snow, laying salt, conducting police calls inside / outside of all DPC Facilities. Conducts Security checks of all DPC facilities emptying trash and turning off lights and equipment when not being used. Provides customers access to the organization’s installation and equipment such as the wash rack.

Supply : Moving of bunks and other furniture may be required from time to time in order to clean under and around. From time to time furniture and equipment may need to be replaced resulting in the requirement to assemble / disassemble equipment and removal of waste from new packaging and disposal of old equipment, example periodic replacement of bunks and mattress, chairs, couches etc. Issues, collects, bundles / folds and turn in / pick up soiled and clean linens from the laundry facility using the government vehicle. Inventories, issues and collects DPC supplies such as keys, basketballs, ping pong paddles, pool sticks, water and Meals Ready to Eat (MRE’s) etc.

Equipment / Vehicle Operation : Operates government vehicles such as up to 8 passengers to transport personnel to various locations in within Germany. Operates automated sweepers, pallet jacks and as required, electric, diesel / gasoline forklifts up to 15k, flood lights and other like equipment from time to time. Uses toolsets to perform minor mounting and demounting of equipment typically used by customers such as beds.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Current employees who do not meet E&T Level I and who are not in the same or similar occupation, must have 2 years of creditable experience that included clerical work in an office or store, working with computers, bookkeeping, making and recording inventories, telephone marketing, arranging for events or as a cashier, etc. Current employees who have served one year in the same or similar occupation are qualified for the next higher grade. Applicant must be in possession of a valid driver’s license class B.

Language Proficiency: English Language Proficiency level B1 AND German Language Proficiency level C1 required.

Incumbent of this position is obligated to perform shift work (3 Shifts, one must be at night) weekend and holiday work. Applicants must be willing and able to perform on-call duty. Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) occasionally required. Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
