We are looking for an enthusiastic and result-driven intern who will have the opportunity to explore the day-to-day operational risk and compliance functions, participate in a variety of work streams and make a true contribution. Working directly with the Operational Risk & Compliance Manager, you will be exposed to multiple functions within the Support Office of citizenM, e.g. Operations, Legal, HR, Facility Management, Food & Beverage, etc. In summary, you will get the opportunity to broaden your knowledge, gain experience, but most importantly; learn and have fun while you’re at it!
purpose
As part of the central services team, you will support the Hotel Operations team to achieve compliance in the domains of Health, Safety, Security, Risk Management & Operating-Permits. This will include researching, proposing and implementing the best practices aimed at creating a safe environment for our employees and guests.
In your internship, you will be responsible to support the Operational Risk & Compliance manager in the roll-out of citizenM Safety & Security framework. The framework focuses on conducting gap analysis and implementing the citizenM standards for Fire, Food and Workplace Safety. The ultimate objective of your role is to support the resilience of our hotel operations and improve the satisfaction of our guests and employees in the compliance domains.
key responsibilities
- Research and identify applicable regulations and best practices in the domain of Health & Safety.
- Maintain documentation and records using our software to be able to demonstrate the hotels‘ compliance with laws and regulations.
- Track and audit the hotels‘ compliance with the policies and procedures of citizenM.
- Audit the operating permits and support the area managers in maintaining valid permits.
- Organize and publish Safety & Security awareness communications on a regular basis.
- Prepare reports, analyses and statistics to update senior management on the hotels safety and security performance.
qualifications / skills
- Be at the final stage of university/HBO study in the field of; Health & Safety, Security, Risk Management, Crisis Management or similar.
- Available for at least six months. Starting Jan or Feb 2024
- Willing to work from our office 2-3 days a week.
- Fluent in English, fluency in Dutch or French is a plus.
- Smart thinker, team player and problem solver.
- Curious researcher with a big ambition.
- Self motivated and positive influencer.

- Voorschoten Support Office. Monday to Friday, full time. Flexible schedule based on school schedule.
Hybrid working is possible, 2/3 days per week at the office. Not fully remote.
