At the University of Oldenburg, a temporary position of 3 1/2 years is to be set up at the earliest possible date in Faculty V – Mathematics and Natural Sciences – in the Geoecology working group of the Institute for Marine Chemistry and Biology (ICBM). The recruitment takes place as part of the BMBF/NWO third-party funded project WADWAD "WAD what – WAD can we do?" Action plan for ecosystem-based land-sea transition zones".
In this project, Dutch, German and Danish partners from the trilateral Wadden Sea region are cooperating to develop an action plan for the establishment of ecosystem-based land-sea transition zones. This action plan is being developed in an interdisciplinary team consisting of social and natural scientists as well as key social stakeholders (including the Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park, the Lower Saxony State Office for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation, the Alfred Wegener Institute: Sylt Wadden Sea Station, Rijkswaterstaat, Staatsbosbeheer, Danish Coastal Authority).

Focus: Organization, design and evaluation of the transdisciplinary knowledge generation
The focus of this position is the organization, design and evaluation of the transdisciplinary knowledge generation process between the scientific members of the consortium, all associated project partners and other social interest groups. In a think tank, actors from science, society and administration are brought together to exchange their knowledge of the Wadden Sea sediment system and to develop a common pool of knowledge. This common pool of knowledge forms the basis for the development of future scenarios.
Your tasks include:
- Organization of internal project communication
- Organization and implementation of workshops
- Conducting a systematic literature search
- Development and implementation of an evaluation tool for the process of transdisciplinary knowledge generation within the think tank
- Publication of research results in scientific journals
- Close cooperation with the other scientific partners of the network as well as with various actors in the region
- Participation in the organization of project events (e.g. workshops, participation formats with local actors) as well as scientific lectures
Employment requirements:
- Scientific university degree (diploma (university) / master) in a social science discipline or in the field of spatial planning, geography, landscape/geoecology or a comparable spatial, environmental or sustainability science discipline
- Interest in qualitative research
- Interest in inter- and transdisciplinary research
- Very good knowledge of English and German
- Willingness to travel on business
Ideally you have:
- Knowledge in the field of empirical social research
- Very good communication skills
- Experience in moderating specialist rounds and committees
- Class A or B driving license
