The Risk Management department is looking for a Trade Support Manager to oversee the Trade Support function for Metals and Coal Marketing activities in Baar. The role holder will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing the trade support function, which is responsible for various control, reporting, and validation tasks.
The role holder will functionally report to the Global Head of Trade Support.
Key accountabilities
- Oversight of all swap derivatives & forward transactions, including performing, engaging, supporting, and/or providing guidance to the team on the below tasks:
- OTC Trade validation and confirmation of both paper and physical activity.
- Administration of exchange-traded and OTC futures, forwards, options, and other related financial instruments (e.g., swaps).
- Reconciliation of Glencore system data to broker recaps and FCM data.
- Exchange reference data management (broker commissions e.g., product mappings).
- In conjunction with the wider risk group, review new business requirements (products, regions, and Exchange…) ensuring Trade Support processes and controls are able to support.
- Assisting the Head of Department with operational management of FCM and CCP relationships.
- Maintain a pro-active knowledge of exchange developments and ensure that any potential impact to the margining process is managed.
- Coordinate with compliance to understand and assist in responding to any regulatory requirements as appropriate.
- Manage current team (1 direct report) responsible for the activities noted above. This includes ensuring appropriate resourcing, recruitment, and providing ongoing performance feedback.
- Conduct a full analysis of incidents and drive robust solutions.
- Maintain a line of defence model and a culture of ownership and accountability in a complex environment.
- Maintain high standards of conduct, compliance, ethics, risk management, and control. Promote adherence to Glencore’s policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with all areas of the business, particularly with Front Office, Compliance, Change Management, and Risk Management subfunctions.
Key Skills and Education
- Educated to degree level with 10 plus years of Commodity trading or financial industry experience.
- Experience of swap derivatives, Options & forwards transactions in a commodities environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Exchange Traded Products and their lifecycle.
- Strong technical skills capable of analyzing complex trade level data and designing tools and solutions to improve focus of controls.
- Understanding of the regulated environment and pro-active in ensuring compliance with Regulation.
- Strong focus on controls, processes, and procedures.
- Attention to detail and excellent critical thinking skills.
- Excellent leader and coach with previous managerial experience, desirable.
- Good communicator (both written and verbal).
- Self-motivated and proactive team player, who is comfortable taking on ad-hoc projects.
- Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to effectively manage competing priorities.
- Confidence to challenge as and when appropriate.
- Good knowledge of MS Office tools, especially Excel.
