This position is located in the Infrastructure Management Section (Section) of the Data Center Management Division (Division), IT Service Operations Directorate (Directorate), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The incumbent reports to the Section Head and serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist with responsibility for oversight and execution of installation, maintenance, power/cooling, networking wiring, shipping/receiving, and inventory of IT equipment and associated datacenter software.
Researches and documents requirements and specifications for new or upgraded IT equipment within Library datacenters. Analyzes IT equipment already in use to evaluate the relative merits of the equipment for meeting immediate and future needs. Makes recommendations for modification, replacement or new purchase. Coordinates the maintenance and replacement of hardware which may include preparing, delivering, and configuring hardware and, software. Serves as an advisor for installations needs of datacenter needs. Evaluates automation requirements to support network and datacenter operations. Performs or contributes to requirements analysis, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, or an analysis of alternatives.
Designs, documents, tests, implements, and maintains data center systems for the collection and control of mission critical data and the production of statistical reports and summaries. Monitors the performance of these systems, adding enhancements, modifications, and additional features as requested by management and end users. Recommends simplified acquisitions for data center hardware. Prepares justifications or other documents needed to justify purchases and related costs. Tracks and accepts delivery or hardware orders. Processes invoices for simplified acquisitions and updates associated inventories.
