We seek to fill the position of
Associate Social Media and Community Content (gn)
full-time (40 hours/week), to start as of 01 April 2025 with a permanent contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative individual to help us engage with and expand our community online. The incumbent will share the work of our faculty, researchers, students, and alumni, while also promoting the wide range of events and activities taking place at the Hertie School, developing content that is specific to our various social media channels.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain our editorial and social media calendar, coordinate content production with colleagues from the Communications team and with other departments;
- Write, edit, update and reproduce articles, interviews, and content for our websites, as well as manage the intake and distribution of information to our diverse internal and external audiences;
- Manage content distribution across multiple social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube;
- Engage with our community online by responding to their mentions, messages, or comments; engage with relevant communities/profiles with similar interests;
- Advise, train, and support our faculty, Centres of Competence, and colleagues from across the Hertie School with preparing and sharing content online;
- Perform regular analysis of our social media activities and KPIs and seek out new avenues and ways of connecting with our audiences.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 2 years professional experience in online journalism, in PR, as a social media specialist, or similar role, ideally in a political, academic, or civil society environment;
- Excellent command of English (native-level; the Hertie School’s working language is English);
- Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and an affinity for data-driven decisions that boost performance across channels;
- University degree in relevant studies is a plus;
- Experience in web content management (such as Typo3) or social media scheduling tools (such as HootSuite or Co-Schedule);
- Excellent writing and editing skills;
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva for creating/editing graphics;
- Professional proficiency in German is a plus; working knowledge is required;
- Good planning and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task;
- Interest in social sciences, politics, and economics.
