The Head of Finance reports to the Site Managing Director and has a functional reporting line into the Europe Finance Organization. The role has a small team of direct reports and is responsible for all areas of Finance and Accounting within the business unit. The job holder will operate as a key member of the site leadership team to drive and support the business strategy and performance.

Our Chart Industries location in Goch, Germany is an internationally established specialist for the design and manufacture of cryogenic and non-cryogenic mobile units for the distribution of gases, liquids and bulk goods, including hazardous cargos. Its key products include cryogenic transport trailers, hazardous transport solutions and cryogenic aftersales and services. It employs around 280 people and is one of seven Chart Industries Sites located in Germany.

What Will You Do…

  • Lead and develop the local Finance Team and drive accountability for financial performance of the business.
  • Work closely with the Regional and Group Finance functions to ensure alignment and co-operation.
  • Ensure that Group reporting requirements are complied with and in accordance with agreed timetables, format and Group Accounting Manual.
  • Keep focus on consistent delivery of monthly/quarterly financial results to strict schedules and provide intelligent business information and insight to the management team for decision making.
  • Prepare reports and analysis for the local management team and Group for further decision making and ad hoc analysis as requested.
  • Ensure working capital, cash and productivity are adequately controlled to achieve plan levels.
  • Prepare and manage the budget planning and forecasting for the business unit ensuring challenging but achievable targets are in place aligning with the global strategy and targets of the organisation.
  • First point of contact and communication with internal and external advisors and auditors.
  • Ensure the organization is fully compliant in respect of policies and legislation.
  • Prepare all reports and satisfy all requirements in accordance to local German GAAP.
  • Lead and coordinate preparation of all supporting documentation for local GAAP external audits as well as internal SOX audits.

What Do You Bring…

Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • Qualified accountant and/or degree in business studies with a focus on finance and accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience and practical accounting skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and developing a small team.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Business written and verbal communication skills in both German and English required.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP reporting and SOX controls environment.
  • Experience in group reporting systems.
  • Tax awareness to enable submissions of tax returns and awareness of PLTA.
  • Systematic and analytical review skills.
  • Experience within a matrix oriented corporate (US) environment with group structures (reporting, cash pool, shared services, etc.) would be an advantage.
  • Experience with ERP systems, JD Edwards would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Action oriented and solution oriented mind-set, with the ability to manage multiple priorities to strict timelines.
  • Act with transparency and ethics; being a role model for good behaviours.
  • Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to build a strong internal and external network.
  • Good with ambiguity and able to work well in an environment going through significant change.
  • Confident dealing with different cultures and able to flex style accordingly.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach.

Location

We are located in Goch, North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany and the job holder is required to attend the office on a regular basis; however, we are open to establishing a hybrid working arrangement.

Some travel within Europe may be required from time to time but not on a regular basis.
