Job description:

We are seeking an internationally recognized individual (f/m/d) who has demonstrated excellence in current research in Sustainable Technical Chemistry. The holder of the Tenure-track Professorship should build a bridge between fundamental research and applied research. The focus should be on aspects of synthesis, characterization, optimization of lifespan, or the theory, chemistry, and catalysis of depolymerization. The research should contribute to an improved circular economy for polymeric materials through pyrolysis or other innovative chemical and mechanical recycling processes. The potential for technical implementation and broad application of the research should be ensured.

In teaching, the Tenure-track Professorship will be integrated into „Applied Chemistry,“ „Polymer Chemistry,“ and „Technical Chemistry.“ The teaching load is 4 semester hours per week (SWS) and will increase to 6 SWS upon a successful interim evaluation. Teaching will be conducted in German but increasingly also in English. Therefore, you must be able to teach in both languages.

You should contribute to strengthening the focus of Area I – Biology, Chemistry, and Process Engineering – in the fields of energy, materials, and information in a sustainable manner. The acquisition of external funding and active participation in university committees are expected.

This research center is part of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. With more than 42,000 employees and an annual budget of over € 5 billion, the Helmholtz Association is Germany’s largest scientific organisation.
