More about the role

This is an exciting job opportunity for you to light the way as Cloud Solution Architect in Aachen with Signify. The position requires working primarily from the office, as the team typically prefers this work environment. However, there may be occasional opportunities for remote work if needed.

As part of the Cloud Center of Excellence, you will be responsible for the provision of our professional web-based services to our business customers. We are rolling out our services in various regions of the world and you will contribute by developing reliable, efficient, scalable, and secure services. We believe in automation as the key to solving operational challenges. There is no problem you cannot solve – an international multi-disciplined operations team across the globe will work with you hand in hand.

You will be based in our European Operations Centre in Aachen. Your activities include occasional international travel.

What you’ll do

1. You design the cloud architecture of customer-facing systems and define, document, implement, and deploy best practices on the cloud.
2. You are the expert in AWS cloud technologies and guide teams on available technologies, services, and best practices.
3. You design your systems for maximum robustness and maximize operational performance.
4. You facilitate a permanent knowledge exchange by sharing your experiences, training others, and continuous learning.

More about you

As Cloud Solution Architect, you aim to solve operational problems by software and have experience in the following areas:

1. You are an expert in Amazon AWS cloud environments proven by an AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification and related work experience.
2. A reference project where you have optimized a system for scalability, performance, and reliability.
3. Software development experience and programming skills in multiple scripting or higher languages.
4. You have designed comprehensive monitoring tools (Icinga, AWS Cloudwatch, etc.) to collect and analyze data for further system optimization.
5. Building infrastructure out of source code using Terraform.
6. Experience with distributed systems and complex network architecture – DNS, firewalls, routing, tunnels are known to you.
7. Knowledge in Site Reliability concepts.
8. Linux server administration.
9. Experience in agile software environments e.g. Scrum or SAFe.
10. Software testing and designing test strategies is a plus.
11. ITIL foundation certification is a plus.
12. Language: Fluent English a must, other languages a plus.
