What to Expect:

This position is an integral part of the Supply Chain organization. The candidate will be responsible for the Supplier Quality Operations group, with direct reports including Supervisors, Quality Technicians, and Quality Inspectors. The main duty is to ensure that purchased parts meet customer requirements and that all non-conformities are contained for Vehicle and PWT Manufacturing lines, ensuring they do not impact OEE and Final Quality of Product.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and manage the Supplier Quality Assurance and Quality inspections shifts team: technicians, team leaders, and supervisors.
  • Provide 3PL supervision and conduct daily job observation audits to ensure that sorting and rework are conducted according to work instructions and Tesla specifications.
  • Develop strategy for the SQA and SQI team members.
  • Establish and maintain quality metrics and objectives, including safety, quality, and efficiency targets.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineers, and Suppliers to ensure certified material is delivered to the line and all non-conforming parts are contained and properly dispositioned.
  • Perform daily inventory audits to ensure good material is available for production and all quarantine parts are moved to non-nettable locations.
  • Participate in daily shop floor cross-functional meetings.
  • Ensure the “Supplier Corrective Action Requests process” is in place and all associated bad parts quality costs are properly documented.
  • Control that all 3PL services are covered by Purchasing Orders (PO) and join quarterly global performance reviews with other factories.
  • Support ongoing optimization of processes regarding cost, efficiency, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with SIE on timing and standards for incoming inspection for new model launches.
  • Monitor key performance metrics to drive reduction in open sorts and MRB inventory.
  • Maintain a 3PL audit program to ensure sorting companies work according to the training matrix across 3 shifts at Giga and external warehouses.
  • Develop and lead training programs for team members and complete the annual hiring plan.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a technology manufacturing environment, with direct reports.
  • Ability to drive cross-functional action, make quick decisions under pressure, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Experience working in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of business system applications: MFS, FX, MRB.
  • 5+ years of experience in Supplier Quality and Supplier Development.
  • Expertise in quality and problem-solving tools: TQP, 8D, PFMEA, Pareto, 5 Whys.
  • A deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing practices, including 5S and TPS, is desired.
  • Higher education and a Driver License category “B”.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and intuition, with experience in quality management systems and tools.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Fluent in English; German and other languages are a plus.
