Strategic Product Manager – Scientific Flow Control: Hunter Davies is partnered with a leading Scientific Flow Control OEM based in Switzerland to find a global OEM Product Line Manager serving Scientific Research applications. This critical role will drive the annual review, updates, and execution of the Global Product Line strategy within the Scientific Research and global R&D sectors.

Key Responsibilities and job tasks:

  1. Lead the development of new product and market initiatives for technical-driven scientific research applications.
  2. Manage component product lines for high-end applications in areas such as high-particle physics, mass spectrometry, accelerators, cosmic rays, synchrotrons, and quantum computing.
  3. Oversee the complete product lifecycle, including pricing, supplier management, and marketing strategies.
  4. Serve as the primary technical liaison for sales teams and customers in scientific markets.
  5. Coordinate multiple product developments aligned with customer demands and the overall product roadmap.
  6. Optimize product profitability and implement compelling value propositions.
  7. Collaborate across business units to enhance synergies in product offerings.
  8. Identify market trends and customer needs to guide product adaptations and improvements.
  9. Support global sales teams through training, presentations, and negotiations.
  10. Develop technical documentation compliant with regulatory standards.
  11. Contribute to R&D efforts and engage with senior commercial leadership teams.
  12. Drive market growth initiatives and product enhancements in response to industry trends.
  13. Provide technical advice to customers and define global pricing strategies.
  14. Spearhead future product requirements to boost market share and profitability.
  15. Play a key role in team development and new product technology initiatives.
  16. Support global sales teams across the US, EMEA, and APAC regions.
  17. Define product technology requirements in collaboration with Sales, Business Development, R&D, and Application Engineering.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical Systems, Physics, or related field).
  2. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams spanning sales, engineering, and supply chain.
  3. Previous experience in product management or cross-functional project management position within high-tech component or equipment manufacturing environment.
  4. Strong market knowledge of tier 1 and tier 2 Scientific OEM Instrumentation markets and adjacent fields.
  5. Strong technical knowledge of Gas Control technologies ideally components.
  6. Proficient in managing international customers and supporting global projects.
  7. Strong entrepreneurial and strategic mindset.
  8. Fluent in English; knowledge of German is advantageous but not required.
  9. Willingness to travel occasionally.

0-3 Months: Establish a strong understanding of the product portfolio and market landscape. Begin coordinating with sales and technical teams to identify customer needs and gather insights for product improvements whilst contributing to operational tasks.

3-9 Months: Lead innovative product development initiatives and optimize existing product lines based on initial feedback. Foster relationships across cross-functional teams, enhancing collaboration between R&D, engineering, and marketing. Implement training sessions for sales teams to ensure effective product positioning in the market.

9-15 Months: Drive successful product strategy and launches. Assess market performance, making necessary adjustments to align with customer demands. Expand influence within the organization, participating in strategic planning sessions and contributing insights from market trends.

15 Months to 2 Years and beyond: Oversee the entire product lifecycle, integrating customer feedback and market analysis to enhance product offerings. Collaborate closely with R&D and sales teams to roll out groundbreaking solutions, solidifying the role as a key driver of market growth. Position yourself for leadership opportunities, shaping the future direction of the organization\’s product strategy and market presence.

OTE package: Totaling 115,000-125,000 CHF comprised of a 90% fixed salary and 10% bonus based on personal and business unit targets.
