Mechanical & Industrial Design Engineer (Wearables)
Job title : Mechanical & Industrial Design Engineer (Wearables)
Job type : Full-time (100%)
About the job:
The future of consumer electronics is here, and it’s all about non-invasive vital signs monitoring. At the forefront of this game-changing trend is PPG (photoplethysmography)—the cutting-edge technology enabling seamless monitoring of heart rate, blood oxygen levels, respiration rate, and even arterial blood pressure.
Senbiosys is proud to unveil the ultimate innovation in wearable tech: Velia smart ring, a groundbreaking device poised to revolutionize the longevity industry. Combining sleek design with unparalleled functionality, our smart ring integrates Senbiosys’s proprietary miniaturized PPG modules, delivering exceptional signal fidelity and ultra-low power consumption. This is more than just a product—it’s a leap generation ahead of the competition, achieved by overcoming extraordinary engineering challenges. The key to this breakthrough? A sophisticated, energy-efficient electrical system that powers everything.
To make this vision a reality, Senbiosys is searching for a talented Mechanical & Industrial Design Engineer (Wearables) to join our team. Are you ready to help us redefine the future of wearables? Let’s build the next generation of life-enhancing technology together.
Your mission and key responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the whole hardware and firmware team to gain a comprehensive understanding of the product’s design specifications and its system challenges
- Conceptual Design & Prototyping
- Conduct design feasibility studies and develop product concepts using CAD and/or rapid prototyping tools
- Iterate on mechanical concepts for optimal ergonomics, aesthetics, and functionality
- Mechanical Engineering & 3D Modeling
- Produce detailed 3D models, drawings, and specifications for all mechanical parts using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360)
- Perform simulations (FEA, thermal, stress, etc.) to ensure robustness, reliability, and safety
- Integration with Electronics
- Work closely with electrical engineers to co-design the mechanical housing of the smart ring, ensuring proper fit and protection of PCBs, sensors, and batteries
- Address challenges at the interface of electronics and mechanics (e.g., enclosure sealing, ESD protection, thermal management)
- Manufacturing & Production Readiness
- Assess and select appropriate materials for durability, cost-effectiveness, and comfort
- Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to develop tooling, refine designs for manufacturing (DFM), and implement quality controls
- Participate in design reviews, pilot runs, and final production validation
- Create and oversee, in collaboration with the quality and testing department, mechanical test plans (e.g., drop testing, water resistance/IP rating tests, wear & tear) to validate design
- Use test results to iterate and improve product integrity and user experience
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with operations, quality, marketing and R&D to align technical decisions with strategic goals and customer needs
- Present findings, design updates, and technical solutions to internal stakeholders
Your profile:
- Education & Experience
1) Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Design, or related field,
2) 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development—preferably with experience in wearables or consumer electronics.
- Technical Expertise
1) Proven track record in end-to-end mechanical design: concept, 3D modeling, prototyping, testing, and release,
2) Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and knowledge of mass production processes (injection molding, CNC machining, metal stamping, etc.),
3) Knowledge of basic electronics fundamentals: PCB shapes/thickness, battery integration, and enclosure design.
- Software & Tools
1) Proficiency in at least one major CAD platform (SolidWorks, CATIA, CREO, Fusion 360, etc.),
2) Experience with simulation/analysis tools (FEA, thermal analysis) is a plus,
3) Knowledge of PLM or PDM systems is advantageous.
- Soft Skills
1) Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a demonstrated experience in working under tight time pressure,
2) Strong priority driven attitude,
3) Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work across disciplines and with external suppliers,
4) Attention to detail and a passion for high-quality, user-centric design.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
