About the Role: The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated regions of the business. This position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit’s financial position, its midrange plans, and its culture. As an HRBP with Velocity Clinical Research, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our mission by serving as a strategic HR partner. This dynamic role involves collaborating with site leaders, coaching on HR best practices, and fostering a culture of accountability and employee engagement.
Must possess a high level of German language fluency and a deep understanding of German employment law.
This role will cover all 6 sites across Germany including; Berlin, Leipzig, Lubeck, Ahrensburg, Hamburg and Wiesbaden with a split between remote and onsite work.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with site leaders to understand business objectives and align HR strategies to support overall organizational goals. Act as a trusted advisor to regional leaders, providing insights and guidance on HR matters.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Conduct weekly meetings with respective site leaders.
- Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
- Provide guidance and input on workforce planning and succession planning.
- Employee Relations: Address employee relations matters in an equitable and consistent manner, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements. Mediate conflicts and facilitate resolution to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
- Performance Management: Implement and support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans. Assist leaders in identifying and addressing performance issues, fostering a culture of accountability.
- Policy Implementation: Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures within the region. Keep abreast of relevant employment laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Employee Engagement: Implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention within the region. Conduct surveys and gather feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement action plans accordingly.
- Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Leadership Coaching: Provide coaching and guidance to site leaders on people management, performance improvement, and leadership development for all HR related tasks. Facilitate leadership development programs to enhance managerial skills within the region.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze HR metrics and trends to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Generate regular reports for leadership on HR-related activities within the region.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS, payroll, and similar employee management software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or related field preferred.
- At least three (3) years of experience in related areas such as job classification and compensation, recruitment, selection, training, employee benefits, and/or equal opportunity compliance preferred.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and employment laws.
- A Certificate in Human Resources is a plus.
