The Government Relations and Public Policy team covers a wide range of responsibilities: government affairs and government relations; policy and issue area expertise; risk and crisis management and mitigation; outreach, coalitions, and partnerships. The mission of the team is to earn trust and prevent, manage, and mitigate political, legislative, and regulatory threats to TikTok.

We are seeking a dynamic Public Policy professional to join our Government relations team. This person will play a crucial role in advancing TikTok\’s mission by navigating complex regulatory landscapes. The position bridges internal and external stakeholder management, requiring expertise in safety related policy areas as well as well documented crisis management experience. The ideal candidate should be a highly flexible problem-solver with strong communication skills and will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating sound judgment and a proactive approach to managing risks and opportunities.

You will become part of a global public policy team committed to delivering our vision for a safe, joyful and creative platform. You will be dealing with the most interesting public policy challenges of our time, helping contribute to the success of the company.

Responsibilities
– Establish and expand strategic relationships with key external stakeholders, such as politicians, policy makers, NGOs, academia, thought leaders and experts for societal safety, including misinformation, disinformation, extremism, terrorism, antisemitism and related emerging topics in the DACH region;
– Establish and foster strategic internal relationships with key cross-functional stakeholders internally, especially Trust & Safety, Operations, Legal, Communications and Law Enforcement Outreach to serve as an advisor and ensure that voices of DACH advocacy groups around key issues are heard;
– Enrich expert and public debates around existing and emerging societal safety topics manifesting on platform as well as civil society responses;
– Advise public policy as well as policy leadership and work with internal cross-functional teams in crisis situations;
– Manage and develop initiatives promoting TikTok\’s safety objectives.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
– 5+ years of relevant experience working in public policy and advocacy work
– A strong understanding of what makes effective government relations and public policy strategies successful.

Preferred Qualifications
– Strong relationships with German civil society landscape and stakeholders as well as relevant academics in subject matters around extremism, antisemitism, misinformation, disinformation, and civil society response, including civic education;
– Crisis management experience;
– Effective communication and diplomacy skills for working collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Trust & Safety, Operations, Legal, and Communications;
– Fluent in German and English (English is the working language of the company).
– Demonstrated interest and/or experience working in a tech environment (company or other organisation);
– Experience working independently and a passion for tracking big challenges;
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
– Strong research, analysis, and project management abilities.
– Strong teamwork skills.
– Motivation to learn and grow, as well as motivate and inspire others.
– Professional network and experience in Austria and/or Switzerland would be advantageous.
