The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W 3) for Software Engineering (Successor of Prof. Podelski) in the Department of Computer Science.

Description

The professorship shall focus both in research and teaching in the field of software engineering. Candidates must have an excellent track record in at least one and preferably a combination of multiple of the following research fields:

  • Program analysis and verification
  • Software testing und debugging
  • Runtime verification and program synthesis
  • Machine learning in software engineering

Strong candidates follow a research strategy that includes well-founded basic research, ideally in combination with convincing application cases with reference to practical implementations. The university expects interest in the collaboration with other professorships at the department. Furthermore, appropriate participation in the teaching tasks of the Department of Computer Science and in academic self-administration is expected.

Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected. This professorship is also suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.
