We have a NEW ROLE for a Director of Business Development at a leading global CRO, offering a base salary of up to 120k . This role is remote and open to candidates based in Germany or Switzerland .
About the Role
As the Director of Business Development, you will play a crucial role in expanding our client’s presence across Europe. Your primary focus will be developing strategic relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and positioning the company as a preferred partner in the CRO industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Business Growth – Develop and execute strategic business development initiatives to expand the company’s European footprint.
- Build & Strengthen Partnerships – Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, ensuring long-term collaboration and customer satisfaction.
- Achieve Revenue Targets – Proactively manage the sales pipeline, closing deals to meet and exceed sales objectives.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams – Work closely with technical experts, senior leadership, and global BD teams to deliver customized solutions for clients.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy – Stay ahead of industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform business development strategies.
- Industry Engagement – Represent the company at key conferences, networking events, and industry meetings to enhance brand visibility and foster business relationships.
- Data-Driven Decision Making – Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to track progress, generate insights, and refine business development efforts.

Requirements
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in a scientific discipline (PhD preferred but not required).
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the life sciences industry, with CRO experience being highly desirable.
- A proven track record of securing new business and achieving revenue targets.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with clients.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on identifying and capitalizing on business opportunities.
- Self-motivation, adaptability, and a results-oriented mindset.
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
