The Impact You\’ll Make in this Role
As a Global Energy Vertical Portfolio leader at 3M, you will lead 3M\’s portfolio innovation direction for the Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture markets. This will be accomplished by partnering with a team of key account managers, applications engineers, and product developers focused on aligning 3M Material Science Capabilities with the Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture markets\‘ most critical design challenges. Your growth-minded leadership skills will thrive as you build relationships, objectives, and strategies to connect 3M with market innovation leaders.

As a(n) Energy Vertical Portfolio Leader, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

1. Conducting market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and the competitive landscape in the Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture sector, gathering critical vertical insights through primary and secondary research with commercial, academic, and government leaders.
2. Developing and implementing technical strategies to advance the company\’s Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture initiatives, including driving current products into the market and road mapping customer and industry needs.
3. Evaluating and recommending new technologies, partnerships, and investments in the Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture market based on sound business cases and technical feasibility.
4. Providing expertise and guidance on Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture production, storage, and distribution technologies, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory compliance.
5. Collaborating with R&D, engineering, and business development teams to drive innovation and ensure successful project execution.
6. Establishing a collaborative innovation prioritization process to focus on energy vertical design challenges.
7. Preparing and presenting technical reports, white papers, and presentations to stakeholders and senior management, including funding proposals to various governmental agencies and consortiums.
8. Representing the company at industry conferences, workshops, and networking events to promote the company\’s Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture initiatives and gather insights to fuel market growth and develop unique solutions.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

1. Bachelor\’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related field or higher
2. Proficient experience in working in the Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture sector
3. Current, valid Driver\’s License.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

1. Demonstrated Market Research, Information Analysis and Technology Comprehension
2. Master\’s degree in Business Administration
3. Doctorate degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related field or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
4. Strong understanding of Oil & Gas/Carbon Capture production, storage, and distribution technologies.
