CureVac SE is a global biopharmaceutical company researching and developing novel drugs based on the natural molecule Messenger RNA (mRNA). Our focus is on prophylactic vaccines, innovative cancer immunotherapies and protein-based therapies. Currently, all RNA people are striving to achieve our main goal: To bring multiple best-in-class mRNA drugs to market.
To strengthen our team in Tübingen near Stuttgart, we are currently looking to recruit a
Senior Scientist (m/f/d) Delivery & Formulation for mRNA Therapeutics & Vaccines
The position will involve working as part of an interdisciplinary team with the aim of developing the therapeutic potential of RNA. Within this remit, you will focus on addressing formulation issues related to this class of medicines.
Your Responsibilities
- Planning and supporting projects to develop RNA delivery technology
- Development and characterization of novel lipid-based mRNA formulations
- Drafting of scientific issues and matters relating to patent law in preclinical, cellular and animal-experimental systems
- Preparing presentations and reports and presenting results to appropriate target groups
- Supervision of junior scientists and technicians
- Supervision of scientific activities performed by external parties and CROs
Your Qualifications:
- Doctorate in natural sciences with a sound knowledge of the specialist aspects and methods involved in biochemistry, organic chemistry or pharmaceutical sciences
- Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of lipid-based and polymer-based delivery systems
- Several years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment in a formulation and delivery role
- Deep knowledge of RNA modalities formulation
- Experienced in conducting in vitro and in vivo assays as well as data interpretation
- Experience in nanoparticle characterization techniques (DLS, zeta potential, chromatography) and knowledge of structural biology and protein and nucleic acid characterization tools/techniques (gel electrophoresis, etc.) are mandatory
- Interdisciplinary thinking and a willingness to embrace new subject areas
- High level of self-motivation with the ability to work independently and in a structured manner
- Troubleshooter and out-of-the-box thinker with capability to work with challenging timelines in a fast-paced and changing biotech environment
- Good team player with excellent communication skills
- Fluent in written and spoken English
