Research Assistant (m/f/d)
30% Position, salary group E13 TV-H, fixed-term contract

starting on 15 January 2024 and ending on 31 October 2024

We are looking for
a Research Assistant for the TSI (Technical Support Instrument) Project Grant "ESG risk management
framework for the financial sector", with the acronym ESG UPTAKE, of which Prof. Loriana Pelizzon
is one of the Lead Experts. The project supports a selected group of European supervisory authorities
in identifying, monitoring, and assessing the impact of ESG risks on their respective supervised entities
as well as on the entire financial sector, with a view to adopting appropriate supervisory responses
and indirectly contributing to the achievement of the overarching EU and national goals in the area of
sustainability. To this aim, ESG-UPTAKE enables the uptake and implementation of a risk-based
supervisory approach to assess and mitigate ESG and climate risks, complemented by reporting
systems, data, and methodologies based on best practices. The Research Assistant will assist the
project team, develop and operationalize, in collaboration with the other project partners, a qualiquantitative
approach including respectively desk-based research and literature review, knowledge
co-production meetings and workshops with NCAs, and best practices analysis to deliver an operative
framework for improving supervisors‘ identification, monitoring, assessment and management of ESG
and climate risks.

Your Profile

  • Master-level degree in Economics, Banking and Finance or in Statistics, Mathematics,
    Physics and Engineering, or equivalent

  • Excellent performance in your field of study

  • Research interest in sustainability-related research, financial risk assessment, climate stress
    testing.

  • Excellent data handling and analytics skills

  • Very good knowledge of MATLAB, Python, STATA and SQL

  • Very good knowledge of the English language

  • The ability to work independently and on your own initiative.

  • Flexibility and teamwork

  • Experience in the management of third-party funded project

We offer

The infrastructure of a modern research center with excellent contacts to the scientific and financial
community. You will be working in a very attractive working environment in the House of Finance at
Goethe University and an enthusiastic team of colleagues. Compensation will be 3 0% of a full-time
position in accordance with the standards of the public services wage agreement of the State of
Hesse (TV-H E 13). The employment contract has a duration for one year.
