Align Technology is looking for an entrepreneurial, dynamic people-oriented leader to manage our Germany Technology Centers in Darmstadt and Berlin and make Align Technology an employer of choice. As the Sr. Manager, Technology Operations – Germany , you will leverage your experience and intimate knowledge of operating in country to manage and grow a world class innovation & execution organization. You have the opportunity to enhance Align’s brand in the country and be the voice of the employees through the embrace of Align’s operating values, performance goals and people concepts. As a member of the Global Technology Operations Leadership team and lead local Site Leadership Circle, you will be responsible for all aspects of the operations of Darmstadt Technology Center including facilitating seamless cooperation of all functional and support units to ensure smooth and efficient operations of the site with effective risk management. The right candidate will be an empowered self-starter,
familiar with working in a fast-paced environment. The role will report to the Sr. Director, Global Technology Operations and will be based in Darmstadt.
In this role, you will…

Be the single point of contact and manage stakeholders‘ expectations primarily engineering leaders whose teams will be resourced from the location
-
Ensure the center is an integral part of Align Technology whilst maintaining its own brand and identity as a premier innovation hub. Drive Align cultural values of agility, customer focus, accountability, and innovation

Manage site projects and topics agenda and set priorities based on available resources

Supervise office support staff

Address challenges and issues that arise at the site, including operational problems, conflicts among staff, concerns of employees and other issues that may impact site

Proactively discuss office space planning and resource needs with facilities, IT, HR
-
Oversee management and consistent adherence to all applicable internal and external policies and other expected practices

Organize budgets with respective FP&A to support site operations and projects

Communicate and enforce actions and decisions to the Darmstadt site employees
-
Conduct regular project status review meetings to keep all stakeholders appraised of progress

Create a best place to work brand for the technology center. Drive the culture where people feel empowered with the ability to innovate. Specific responsibilities are as following:

In partnership with engineering leaders, help with local career development and professional growth programs (tech talks, hackathons, meet-ups, conferences, etc.)

Optimize onboarding process to enhance new employee experience
-
In partnership with HR, establish good hiring and retention practices for employees and interns
-
Collaborate with the external technology communities and universities to showcase Align Technology as a premier technology company and an employer of choice

Be the primary communicator for the technology center including sharing corporate and local information through regular All Hands

Build and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Manage the technology center in accordance with local HR, Finance and Legal policies and in line with the Align’s corporate standards:

RAQA – increase awareness of Quality activities and drive Improvement initiatives in the Quality area

InfoSec- Implementation of global initiatives taking into account local specific, monitoring of local incidents

Finance and tax – close collaboration with Finance team on budget planning and monitoring of the center’s budget

Legal and Compliance – work with the L&C team on local law changes, contract reviews, etc.

Oversee all local administrative and facilities activities to ensure Darmstadt Technology Center is always best in class. You will be a stakeholder for cross-function initiatives that focuses on continuous improvement of the office setup, IT setup, and to localize global initiatives
In this role, you’ll need …
- 8+ years of overall engineering leadership experience
- 5+ years in managing a technology delivery site
- 5+ years of effective people/team/program leadership
- Proven experience with defining and managing customer/business team expectations
- Experience working in global organizations with a matrix org structure
- Strong leadership skills in managing various stakeholders
- Effective communication is key to conveying instructions, reporting to higher management, and addressing any issues that arise on the site
- The ability to manage workflows, schedules, and resources to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget is crucial
- Strong hands on approach and mentality
- German Occupational Safety and Health Administration certification is desirable
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science preferred/or equivalent years of experience
- Fluently in speaking and writing German and English
