Join our Project Delivery & Engineering team as the Head of Project Execution, where you will play a pivotal role in orchestrating complex offshore wind construction projects, optimizing cross-functional workflows, and delivering on our ambitious goals for fossil freedom.

We are looking to recruit a manager with extensive experience in leading a team of (senior project) managers and large-scale infrastructure projects to take on the position as Head of Project Execution in Project Delivery & Engineering, in our business unit Offshore Wind. You will report to the Head of Project Delivery & Engineering in Offshore Wind.

Offshore Wind is part of Business Area Wind, which is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro renewable activities like Solar and Batteries. Today we develop, construct, and operate wind farms across Europe. Project Delivery & Engineering is responsible for the maturation and execution of our construction projects. Our vision is to be one step ahead of the competition in safely constructing next-generation offshore wind farms while deploying our knowledge during the planning and contracting phases to secure successful project delivery.

Qualifications

Your role

As the Head of Project Execution, you will drive and deliver Project Management Excellence during maturation and construction of our projects. You will head the department of approximately 55 headcounts. You will develop and maintain the right processes and competencies to fully manage all technical and commercial aspects during execution to deliver the construction projects safely, on time, on budget, and to quality until handover to Generation.

You will lead a team of line managers for Construction & Logistics, Contract Management, and System Integration, as well as a group of EPC Directors and the Product Portfolio Director.

You will inspire continuous learning by securing lessons learned back into the department and thereby continue to improve our ways of working to ensure execution excellence and that we are always one step ahead of our competitors. As part of the management team of Project Delivery & Engineering, you will work with your colleagues in the business unit Offshore Wind to secure alignment across departments and to deliver our strategy.

Furthermore, you will be:

• Ensuring the delivery of our project pipeline in scope, time, budget, and in a safe way to the agreed quality as part of the Project Delivery & Engineering Steering Group.
• Driving standardization of activities, developing and implementing best practice systems and processes including QA of EPC delivery.
• Leading and developing the department, (people & knowledge management) with employees in different countries (UK, DK, DE, SE, and NL).
• Securing best-in-class competencies and processes to deliver the pipeline.
• Proactively contributing to cross-functional improvement projects and driving collaboration in the department and with internal and external stakeholders.
• Increasing safety awareness and improving HSE performance on projects and in the line organization.
• Securing (financial) performance of the department.

Who are you?

You are a strategic leader who combines deep industry expertise with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. With a high degree of self-motivation, you adapt quickly to evolving market conditions and complex project challenges. You excel at setting priorities and guiding diverse teams toward shared objectives, ensuring that commitments are met, and quality standards are upheld. As our new Head of Project Execution, you bring a passion for sustainability, an open and honest mindset, and the ability to foster a collaborative environment that empowers your team, enhances our organizational capabilities, and advances Vattenfall’s vision for a fossil-free future.

• Master\’s degree combined with MBA (commercial mindset) and supported by senior leadership training.
• Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in leading managers and senior project managers at the Project Director level in the (offshore) wind industry and during the realization of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Deep understanding of all phases in offshore wind farm construction and specific knowledge about integrating various components and contractors into successful projects.
• Proven track record in successfully developing businesses and organizations, including communication at the board level.
• Strong communication, negotiations, collaboration, change management, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong HSE culture with a commitment to contribute to the development and delivery of inherently safer wind farm projects.
• Certified in project management (e.g. IPMA level B or higher).
• High degree of self-motivation with a flexible approach to work.
• Fluency in English is required, Danish/German language skills are an advantage.
