Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Spaceopal (SPO) Product Assurance (PA) Officer is a member of the SPO Product Assurance and Quality Team and therefore, for any project related activity reporting to the functional team leader (the PA and Safety Manager) and disciplinary reporting to the SPO Chief Executive Officer.
The PA Officer is involved in the definition, design, engineering and execution of all Product Assurance activities.
This includes in details:
- Contribution to the planning, implementation and management of Product Assurance/Quality Assurance activities in all Galileo project FOC phases
- Contribution to surveillance and management of subcontractors with respect to product assurance, quality and safety related duties
- Contribution to define, develop and ensure delivery of Product Assurance and Safety concepts and plans for the Galileo FOC phase
- Involvement on the set-up and management of a Non-Conformance control program
- Surveillance of RAMS tasks including performance review of system level RAMS analysis
- Processing and contribution to the Observation/Anomaly/ Non-Conformances management using the dedicated Galileo Tools: SDT, ARTS and NCTS Tools
- Surveillance and participation to operations preparation and validation activities
- Supporting Project Management in the Risk Management process through the issue of Critical PA items identification
- Contribution to definition, control and monitoring of (safety) critical items
- Participation in progress meetings and program reviews
- Coordination, preparation and moderation of ARBs and MRBs
- Control and support to CCBs from Product Assurance & Quality aspects.
- Contribution to the coordination of internal and external project quality audits
- Contribution to a Safety Management plan and manual for Galileo FOC phase
- Contribution to planning, management and implementation of a software PA program and associated tasks
- Provide – when requested and under internal PA coordination – Customer interface in quality, product assurance and safety aspects of the project
- Contribution to the periodical reporting documentation to be issued toward the Customer
Planning and Execution/Support of PA routine and special audits in the frame of the different projects and at Company Level.
Required Qualification and Experience:
University degree in a relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Telecommunications or Electronics).
Experience in similar activities, preferably acquired in Space or Defence programs, or in highly security-sensitive Industrial sectors.
Experience in the Galileo program, and especially knowledge of the Galileo-specific accreditation processes and methodology, will be a preferential factor.
In addition to that, the following areas of knowledge and experiences will be privileged for the selection of the candidate:
- Proven and qualified experience in professional Product Assurance and Quality Assurance in the satellite operations business
- Experience in Galileo
- Comprehensive and in-depth knowledge as well as experience of auditing and subcontractor auditing
- Good knowledge of ESA-ECSS-Q-series standards and workmanship procedures
- Good knowledge at system level of Galileo Program and current deployment status and criticalities
- Experience in managing anomaly reports life cycle using ESA Standards Tools (ARTS, NCTS) and both in chairing and coordinating ARBs and supporting CCBs for Space Programs
- Experience of Quality Management Systems and Standards
The job requires also:
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Fast decision making in case of service impacting problems
- Ability to work in intercultural and geographically distributed work environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good interpersonal liaising and communication skills with strong attitude to team work
- Hands-on mentality and systematic, self-organized, able to prioritize way of working
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with knowledge of Italian and/or German also appreciated
- Fluency in standard office automation tools (MS Office, Email, Internet, etc.)
Work location:
GCC-I (Fucino, Italy) or SPO HQ.
It could be necessary to spend time periodically at the GCC-D (Oberpfaffenhofen, Munich, Germany) and/or at the Spaceopal Headquarter (Munich, Germany) and/or GCC-I (Fucino, Italy).
It could be necessary to participate in meetings in the above locations and in other relevant project locations in Europe.

The awarded European Commission (EC) contract to Spaceopal is more than just its satellites in space.
