The role is intended to elevate Edwards leadership in Public Affairs both externally and internally, broaden external engagement, increase frequency of interactions and develop partnerships at regional levels.

Responsible for managing the relationships with strategically important organizations within the German healthcare system that will be driving the change away from clinician decision making regarding funding decisions toward joint decision making by multiple stakeholders, namely procurement, hospital administration, regional policy makers, etc. The role will lead the implementation of the German Public Affairs strategic plan to secure timely patient access and appropriate funding for the structural heart innovations and solutions that Edwards brings to healthcare systems.

The role will work in close collaboration with the Country Public Affairs lead, Country Director, and local Business leaders and will implement and execute country-specific Public Affairs strategic plans to secure patients’ access to Edwards Lifesciences products under optimal conditions.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for the regional funding decision makers within the German healthcare system, including hospital stakeholders, GPOs, sickness funds, and regional policymakers. Lead the implementation and execution of country-specific Market Access & Public Affairs programs in alignment with the Business Units\‘ imperatives to secure optimal patient access to Edwards Lifesciences technologies.
  • Identify opportunities to develop innovative market access tools that can be adopted across the German healthcare landscape in conjunction with the PA central teams.
  • Formulate and deliver the optimal access strategy for each of Edwards Lifesciences current and pipeline products.
  • Coordinate the implementation of the access action plans with local and EMEACLA teams and resources.
  • Engage with German healthcare authorities at the regional level to ensure successful implementation of market access and procurement strategies, from evidence submissions to advocacy activities, adapting European value propositions to local requirements.
  • Monitor and report changes in the health policy and funding environment and conditions for the Edwards Lifesciences portfolio.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the constant engagement of regional decision makers at hospital and policy level on Quality and Value topics.
  • Define and implement cross-BU strategies aiming at the prioritization of Structural Heart Disease, patient access to innovation, and innovation reward.
  • Establish, maintain, and strengthen a network of contacts with policymakers, hospital C-suite, Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), and sickness funds at regional levels.
  • Share in the optimal Edwards representation in the local industry organizations.

What you’ll need:

  • Degree in Political Science, Science, Law, Economics, or Business + at least 8 years of previous related experience.
  • Strong network among government officials, policymakers, and payers with a primary focus on the Regional level.
  • Knowledge of the German healthcare system, policies, and trends.
  • Recognized as an expert in Public Affairs, Government Affairs, and Market Access.
  • Strong Business Acumen – To-do attitude and sense of urgency.
  • Knowledge of health economics.
  • Ability to craft and drive value messages that support Edwards strategy and communicate with various stakeholders in the healthcare system.
  • Ability to cooperate with different functions and teams inside Edwards.
  • Ability to relate and network with key stakeholders inside and outside the company and recommend internal and external business solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, with the aptitude to influence senior individuals.
  • Leverage the European resources in support of the German Public Affairs agenda.
  • Ability to lead successful projects and teams in a local as well as international, fast-paced matrix environment.
  • Fluent in German and English.
