PhD Positions in Cryptography and Provable Security (m/f/d) – Group Riepel

St. Ingbert, Germany

Doreen Riepel is looking for motivated PhD students to contribute to research in the area of public-key cryptography and provable security . The positions are not project-bound, allowing PhD candidates to freely choose and work on their preferred research directions, including but not limited to:

  1. Key exchange and secure messaging
  2. Public-key encryption with advanced functionalities

Group Riepel focuses on the foundations of applied cryptography, contributing to analyzing real-world cryptographic schemes to improve their theoretical security guarantees. They also design new schemes and protocols for practical applications, often requiring the formalization of new or stronger security models.

Their research typically includes formalizing new cryptographic primitives and security models, modularizing complex primitives, developing techniques to achieve concrete (and tight) security bounds, and designing and analyzing practical instantiations (e.g., based on elliptic curves, lattices, or isogenies).
