PhD Position (m/f/d) in T-Cell Immunology
The research group of Prof. Marc Schmidt-Supprian at the Institute of Experimental Hematology at the Technical University Munich is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our team starting from now onwards. The research project focuses on regulatory T (Treg) cells and investigating their context-specific identity and function in health and B cell-driven autoimmune diseases. This collaborative project is embedded in the Transregional Collaborative Research Centre TRR 355 and aims at integrating the function of regulatory T cells in mice and men and the position is funded for three years.
Project Overview:
The candidate will contribute to a collaborative DFG-funded project aimed at understanding the identity and plasticity of regulatory T (Treg) cells, in the context of autoimmunity.
The primary objectives include:
- to compare central Treg cell identity and function programs between mice and men in normal physiology and autoimmunity in collaboration with project partners
- elucidate the transcriptional networks regulated by FoxP3 and c-Rel in Treg cells and screen for novel critical regulators of Treg identity and function in autoimmune contexts
- study how context-specific cytokine milieus affect Treg identity as well as plasticity and functionally validate engineered Treg cells with distinct anti- or pro-inflammatory features
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct wet lab experiments to generate data describing the context-dependent Treg identity and underlying transcriptional networks.
- Collaborate with project partners.
- Contribute to the preparation and analysis of data for publication and presentations.
Your profile:
- Strong background in T cell biology/immunology.
- Hands-on experience with transgenic mouse models, including breeding and colony management.
- Proficiency in preparing and processing lymphoid organs from mice.
- Expertise in Flow Cytometry, particularly in multi-color FACS staining and cell population analysis.
- Experience/Interest in single cell RNA sequencing experiments.
- Excellent proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
