About the role
The Data Engineer (m/f/d) will play an integral role in our digital transformation journey, building the backbone that supports the analytics driving the company’s portfolio strategy and management. In this role, you will be working with interdisciplinary teams, supporting the Head of Portfolio Intelligence in building a scalable digital infrastructure which provides trustworthy data and analyses of the project portfolio as a basis for the investment strategy, capital allocation and business intelligence efforts of the Segment.
What you will do
- You will develop and manage databases and applications in Azure serving as the backbone of the Portfolio Intelligence Environment.
- You will gather requirements and build new features, bridging our systems internally and externally, with an eye on the challenges of scaling infrastructure.
- You will monitor, debug, and address issues in applications or data availability and quality.
- You will contribute to the definitions of new requirements in our digital landscape and internal business intelligence products from a technical perspective.
- You will facilitate alignment and build interfaces with the company’s wider digital landscape and thereby the development, operation and continuous improvement of Segment Projects’ portfolio and financial database globally.
- You will support the Portfolio Intelligence team’s goals to deliver high quality and reliable business intelligence in the long term.
- You will enable employees across the company to access and learn from data, tools, and visualizations by promoting an open data policy, cultivating a data centric culture.
What you’ll need to succeed
- An excellent university degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of work experience.
- Strong foundation in programming languages (e.g., Python) is required.
- Experience with REST APIs, JSON and relational databases with a focus on maintainability and best practices.
- Track record of success in Data Engineering within a cloud context.
- Experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Functions, Key Vaults, Data Bricks, Application Insights, Log Analytics or Azure Storage is a plus.
- Exposure to managing and prioritizing a product backlog is a bonus (e.g., Jira).
- A pro-active and hands-on approach to challenges and getting things done mindset.
